Irene Wood

Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, and Friend passed away Monday November 21, 2011 at the Bear River Valley Care Center. Irene was the third child born to Leo Ezra Farnsworth and Ruby Lovina Richards who already had a son Theron (Sid,) born in 1907 and a daughter Cleo born in 1909. While they were homesteading in Holbrook, Idaho, they came to Riverside, Utah to Ruby’s sister Effie’s home, where our Grandmother Belle Farnsworth, a mid-wife, could deliver her on February 26, 1911. While in Idaho at age six, Irene and her father both survived typhoid fever. In 1919, the family moved to Fielding, Utah where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Bear River High. While in Fielding, four more girls were added to the family; Carmen (Boss) Logan, Faye (McMurdie), Maxine (Gardner) and Doris (Christensen) Elwood. Irene married Horace Vanfleet Peck May 23, 1932. Later this marriage was sealed in the Logan Temple on May 12, 1964. They moved into the Peck family home in West Fielding with his mother. In 1949, they build a grocery and appliance store near the home. This business became known as “Peck’s Corner.” After Horace passed away December 24, 1974, Irene continued to manage and operate the store eight more years. Irene and Hod had two children: Roy Horace (R.H.) and Carreen. R.H. married Connie Kirkham and they had three daughter; Jennifer Frisnegger (Daniel) of Sandy, Utah; Julianne Dabling (Rex) of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Nannette White (Wesley of Bountiful, Utah. Six great-grandchildren came from these marriage; Allyssa Irene Frisnegger, Gabriel and Theodore Dabling, Jackson, Allyson and Maddison White. Carreen Raine (carl) of Scottsdale, Arizona. Carreen and John Spector (deceased) had two daughters; Leesa lattimore of Escondido, California and Onna Spector of Scottsdale, Arizona Irene was preceded in death by her parents; son, R.H.; brother, Theron and sisters; Cleo, Faye, Maxiene. On November 20, 1979, Irene married Charles J. Wood who passed away August 9, 1983. Funeral services will be held Monday November 28, 2011 at 1:00 pm. A viewing will be held from 11:00 to 12:45 before the service. All services will be held at Rudd Funeral Home located at 1234 South Main in Garland. Interment will be at Farmington City Cemetery.
