Tremonton – Iris “Maurine” Jackson, 95, passed away July 22, 2013, with her family by her side. She was born June 29, 1918 in Snowville, UT to William and Iris Rosella Peterson Hurd.
Maurine attended elementary school in Snowville, then attended and graduated from Bear River High School. She Married Paul F. Fonnesbeck on April 20, 1935. Together they had seven children; Carol, Paul D., James C. (Deceased), Margo (Deceased), Sheila, Marcia & Leah. They lived, worked and raised their children together on the family farm in Howell, UT. Maurine has 27 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren. Paul passed away in 1970.
She later married Merlyn Jackson in September of 1976 in Reno, NV. They made their home and retired in Tremonton, although they traveled all over the western United States and would go south for the winters. Merlyn passed away in February of this year. Maurine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints her whole life and enjoyed the callings that she held throughout her life; she was an avid visiting teacher until she was 91.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, July 26, 2013 at 12:30 pm at the Logan City Cemetery. There will be a viewing the same day at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. –Tremonton) from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, prior to the service.
