James Warren Heyder, 60, passed away on Sept. 9, 2014, from natural causes. James (Jim) was born on Dec. 7, 1953, in Tremonton, Utah, to William A. Heyder, Sr. and Joan (Hickman) Heyder.
Jim was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He attended elementary school in Snowville, Utah, with his brothers and sisters. He grew up working on his Grandpa Hickman’s family farm, where his Grandpa Dan and Grandma Ada Hickman taught him the value of hard work.
He graduated from Bear River High School in 1972. He married Garaleen Frandsen in August, 1978. They had two children, James Dan and Kellen Wade Heyder. They were later divorced.
Jim was proud of his sons, and savored his time with them. Jim enjoyed sports, and had a great love of football (GO, STEELERS!), baseball, basketball, and many other types of sports. He loved hunting and enjoyed gun collecting. He enjoyed boating and water skiing with his friends and family. He had a competitive nature, and he enjoyed playing league softball. He loved raising and riding horses.
During his lifetime, Jim worked for various employers. He worked for the Utah Sugar Company. He took great pride in working as a volunteer firefighter and later, as the Snowville Fire Chief. He worked for Gary Frandsen at the Chevron station in Snowville. He worked for Chevron Corp. in Tremonton. He went on to work at Thiokol Corp. for many years.
Jim is survived by his sons, James Dan and Kellen Wade. He is survived by his brothers and sisters William (Kathy) Heyder, Dan (Jeanie) Heyder, Tim (Lori) Heyder, Barbara (Joel) Shuman, and Jayne Robbins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Alvin Robbins.
A Memorial service will be held for Jim on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Curlew Ward Chapel in Snowville. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friends and family can express their condolences before the services from 9:30-10:45 a.m. A luncheon will be provided for family and friends after the funeral.
