Malad, Idaho - Jamie Marie Barnes, 32, passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2015 doing what she loved. She was born on October 20, 1982 in Ogden, Utah. She is the daughter of the late Jana Lee Hess (Bill Hicks) and Norris & Edna Hess. She grew up in Plymouth, Utah graduating from Bear River High School and LDS Seminary in 2001. She was licensed in Everything and had a Ph.D. in Mothering and Caring.
She married Josh Barnes in Malad, Idaho on November 10, 2000. They were later sealed in the Bountiful LDS Temple in August 2002. They were blessed with two wonderful children Rowdy & Rayleigh.
Jamie had many hobbies. She loved horses (especially appys), being a rodeo mom, rodeoing, cooking for others, woodworking and making crafts. Her favorites, however, were serving her family and others, piano ,clogging, and western swing. Making others know how special and loved they are. She took little for granted and always made others know they were special and loved.
She was involved in 4-H, FFA, the Malad High School 8th District Rodeo team, and the Womens Board for Farm Bureau.
She worked as a secretary for Dr. Johnson, U.S. Bank, and most recent a CSR for Farm Bureau.
Jamie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings including: Young Women’s President, Primary Teacher, and scouts
She is survived by her husband, Josh; son, Rowdy Owen, and daughter, Rayleigh Marie; parents Norris Lee Hess, Bill Hicks, earth mom Kellie J. Stimpson; In-laws Joe & Carolyn Barnes; siblings Janiel Hurd (Al Love), Shane (Stacey), Jeremiah (Sarah Pearson), Stephanie Williams, Brady Shaw, Angie (Dallas) Ray, Joey (Shenise) Barnes, Amy Dejarnett, Jodi ( James) James, Adele ( Jack) Miller, and Vicky (Dean) Larkin; grandmother Ruth Swendsen and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and her rodeo family.
Jamie was preceded in death by her mothers Jana Lee Hess Hicks and Edna Hess & grandfather Guy Swendsen.
Funeral services for Jamie will be held on Saturday May 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Viewings will be held on Friday evening May 15, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the funeral from 9 - 10:30 a.m. All services will be held at the Malad Stake Center (1250 N. 1100 W.Malad, ID).
Interment will be in the St John cemetery.
