Janet (Capener) Abel

Janet Capener Abel, age 86, peacefully passed away on March 5, 2025, in Kaysville, Utah. She was born in Garland, Utah, on January 12, 1939, to Joseph Ray Capener and Ellen Edigington. On March 21, 1958, she married Ralph Abel in Logan, Utah, who later preceded her in death on April 11, 2019.

Throughout her life, Janet touched many hearts as she lived in various communities, including Riverside, Elwood, Mississippi, and Fruit Heights. She graduated from Bear River High School and attended Utah State University.

Janet embraced her role as a homemaker and was a beloved grandmother. Her passions included painting, sewing, family history, and theatrical set designing, which showcased her creativity and dedication to her family and community.

Active in her community and church, Janet held many leadership roles, including PTA President, Primary President, and participated in 4-H and Cub Scouts, reflecting her commitment to service and making a positive impact in the lives of others.

She is survived by her loving children, Ralph Joseph (Dela) Abel, Tina Marie (Mark) Eagar, Jackie (Doug) Tolboe, and Tim (Jillyn) Abel; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters and all family and friends who are reading this.

Janet is preceded in death by her husband Ralph, granddaughter-in-law Sarah Tolboe, and brother Paul Capener.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Noon, with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. All services will take place at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 24 S Country Ln, Fruit Heights, UT. Interment will be at Elwood Cemetery. Janet will be deeply missed, but her unwavering spirit and love will continue to inspire those who knew her.
