Joan I Evans

March 28, 1954 — December 6, 2024

Tremonton

Our sweet, beautiful wife, mother, and grandma, Joan I. Evans, age 70, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on December 6, 2024, at her home in Washington, Utah, after a 1½-year battle with thyroid cancer. She was born on March 28, 1954, in Tremonton, UT, to Lynn J. and Dorothy G. Iverson.

She married David R. Evans on November 19, 1971, in Tremonton, and together they had two children, Brandon Dave and Lisa Ann. On August 18, 1984, they were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple.

Joan graduated from Bear River High School, where she was involved in the Pep Club and Choir. She worked in many places in Tremonton, including Mack’s Drive-In, Hamilton Drug, and Key Bank. At Key Bank, Joan started in the mail room and steadily advanced through the ranks, eventually retiring as the branch manager.

Her smile, kindness, and sense of humor touched the lives of everyone around her. She especially loved to golf! Golfing with the ladies at Skyway Golf and with the ladies of the St. George Golf League were cherished times. Many lifelong friendships began on the golf course, as she and David golfed with others.

Sewing and creating masterpieces was of utmost importance to Joan. She cherished the time in her “She Shed,” creating one-of-a-kind handmade items that she loved to gift to family and friends. If she wasn’t golfing or sewing, she was in the kitchen. She had perfected Grandma Dorothy’s cinnamon rolls, as well as her own dinner rolls that she loved to bake.

She loved to travel with her family and friends, enjoying visits to the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Norway, Spain, and the UK.

Joan was a member of the Skyway Ladies Golf Association, serving as President, the St. George Ladies Golf Association, and the Kiwanis Club, where she served as President and in other various positions.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Joan loved spending time with her family at their property in Island Park and Lava Ranches, where many cherished memories were made with her kids and grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Wayne and Juanita Evans, and her brothers-in-law Wayne Hunt and Lyle Evans. She is survived by her best friend and beloved husband, David, her two children, Brandon (Amy) and Lisa Ann, three grandsons, Chaz (Abby), Jace, and Grayson, and one great-grandson, Jack. She is also survived by her siblings, Gary (Kathy), John (Sue), and Ann (Jeff).
