John Smith

April 30, 2006 — July 9, 2015

John Charles Smith, 9 years old, the son of Daniel and Angela Smith of Tremonton, Utah, returned home to his Father in Heaven on July 9, 2015, due to injuries from an ATV accident in Elwood, Box Elder County, Utah.

John was born on April 30, 2006 in the Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton, Box Elder County, Utah. John loved his family and they loved him. John always brought light and joy to everyone. All loved him.

John loved his Father in Heaven, His Son Jesus Christ, and Their prophets.  He often shared his testimony of Jesus Christ and was valiant in his love for the Savior. His love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ shined so brightly by the way he lived. He prayed, read The Book of Mormon, lived the gospel, knew the answers in Primary, sang well, and participated lovingly.

John had many accomplishments. He attended North Park Elementary School and completed the 3rd grade. He did well in spelling, reading, math, science, physical fitness, running the mile, and had outstanding attendance. His favorite subjects were math and science. He won many coloring contests in school and the community. He excelled in Cub Scouts and was eager to work on his cub scouting requirements. He received his Bobcat and Wolf Badges, as well as eight silver arrow points, one gold arrow point, and the “Best Bumblebee” award in the Pinewood Derby. Additionally, he gave excellent Family Home Evening lessons, where his abilities as a teacher were evident.  The Monday before his death he taught us to not be bound down by sin.

John will always be remembered for his love of life. He was always happy and enjoyed the following activities: soccer, baseball, basketball, pickle ball, tennis, ping-pong, playing pool, swimming, four-square, night games, riding his bike, building camp fires and roasting hot dogs, rides at Lagoon, building and creating objects, sewing, walking with his family and the dog, playing with friends and cousins, visiting grandparents, eating all types of food, playing the piano, singing, reading scriptures and other books.

John was survived by: his parents, Daniel and Angela Smith; eight siblings, Rebecca, Rachel, William (Elise), Christina, Brent, Alicia, Kate, and Nancy; grandparents, Glenn and Marilyn Smith, Charles “Bill” and Renee Elder; 23 aunts and uncles, 58 cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday July 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Tremonton Stake Center (660 North 300 East, Tremonton Utah).  Viewings will be held Sunday July 12, 2015 from 6-8 pm at the church and also from 9-10:30 am Monday prior to the funeral.
