Tremonton, Utah - Our loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa & great grandpa, Joseph T. Allen, passed away at McKay Dee Hospital on November 1st, 2013 of a massive heart attack.
He was born to John W. Allen and Grace Udy on October 5, 1949 in Tremonton, Utah. He was the youngest of four children.
He graduated from Bear River High School in 1967. After graduation he attended Utah State University for fall semester then went to Phoenix, AZ to work for J.D. Harris a short time. After which he went to Lordsburg, NM to work in a mine. After returning to Utah he worked at IRS while attending Weber State Univ. for 3 1/2 years. He moved back to Riverside to help his mother and went to work at Thiokol in NDT where he worked until being laid off in 2010.
He started dating the love of his life, Kathy Minson, in the fall of 1983 and they were married April 6, 1984 in Elko, Nevada with family and good friends in attendance. Together they raised 3 children and watched their family grow from there.
His favorite hobbies in life were woodworking, auto maintenance, trap shooting, golfing, and watching the Denver Broncos. Above all his greatest love was spending time with family and friends, babysitting the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by wife, Kathy D. Allen, daughters Tina & Rick Bardwell of Richland, WA, Rebecca Earley of Tremonton, and son Joseph (J.D.) & J'Lynn Allen of Tremonton, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Elray & Eldalaine of Malad, ID, and Lawrence & Carolyn of Mantua, and 1 sister, Pat & Jerry Checketts of Brigham City.
Preceded in death by his parents and 1 grandchild, Jinnevieve Allen.
A viewing will be held Friday, Nov, 8th from 6-8PM with Funeral services held Saturday, Nov. 9th, at 1:00PM. Friends and Family may also pay respects before the service from 11:30AM to 12:30PM. Both Viewings and the funeral will be at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N. 100 E. Tremonton, Utah.
Joseph was an organ and tissue donor and was able to share his love of life with others.
The family would like to thank the Tremonton Police Dept., the ambulance crew, Bear River Valley Hospital Staff, Life Flight crew, and the staff at McKay Dee Hospital for all their efforts to keep him here with us.
The family would also like to thank Bishop Jaques, and Tremonton 7th Ward Relief Society for their compassionate services during this difficult time.
