Josephine Forsgren Vasquez, 79, passed away on March 27, 2015 in Logan, Utah. She was born in Garland on April 17, 1935 and continued to live and work in Garland and the Bear River Valley most of her life. She graduated from Bear River High School in 1953. She worked hard all of life. Beginning at a young age, she worked in the fields and orchards picking vegetables and fruits. She also tended children and cleaned houses. After high school, she worked in Riverside California, as a nanny for a while. She enjoyed cooking, and spent many years cooking and working in the cafés in the area, The Cross X and Rustlers Roost. She was a member of the LDS church and enjoyed her time serving as a nursery and primary teacher and as her position in the library and visiting teacher. She married Antonio Vasquez in 1957, they were later divorced.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers: Leon, David, Virgil, Donald, sister Jenny, daughter Raydina and grandson Glen.
She is survived by her siblings and their families, Clara May Reeves, Adele Sandman, Zorae Thorpe, Sherry Zundel, Caroline Pope, Velma Abbot, Morris Forsgren, and Ken Forsgren. She is survived by her Children, Salina Guajardo, and her children: Annajean, Nicole, Jeremy, Joshua, Casey and Jessica. DeNeice (Corey) Mortenson and her daughter Tia Fryer. Damon Vasquez, and sons Anthony and Matt. Ramona Andrus and sons, Tyler and Nicholas. Rachel Strong (Robert) and her Children: James Martinez, Jacob Strong and Hope Strong. She also has many great-grandchildren.
She spent the last few years of her life at Pioneer Care Center in Brigham City and Sunshine Terrace in Logan. She had many loving caregivers and friends that helped her while she lived there. The family wishes to convey their appreciation to the staff at Pioneer and Sunshine Terrace for their care of our mother.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garland 4th ward Building (175 S. Main, Garland, UT) . There will be a viewing held at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening, April 1, 2015 and a viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.
