Judith Smith

Judith (Judy) Leah Deakin Smith, wife of Terry L. Smith of Fielding, passed peacefully in her sleep on May 15,2023 at the age of 82. Judy was born on June 4, 1940, to Joseph Edgar and Annie Leah Rock Deakin, in Tremonton Utah.

Judy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her other great joy, was sharing her love of reading with children, as the librarian of Fielding Elementary. She was fondly known as “Mrs. Judy” to generations of students who have continuously expressed their love and wonderful memories of having her as a librarian.

She had a tremendous belief in, and love of Jesus Christ, as a lifelong member of the Church of Latter-day Saints. Judy was a dancer, poet and songwriter. She was a wonderful cook and baker who passed on her knowledge and recipes to her daughters and family so these traditions will stay alive for future generations.

Judy is survived by her husband Terry L. Smith; her children Sandra (Leo) Depaula, Marilyn Smith Touchard, Glen Layne Smith and Scott (Danielle) Smith; Twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Betty Ann Deakin Bartholomew, Beverly Gaye Deakin Egbert, Duane Ed Deakin, and her son Mark Evan Smith.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her hospice care team Alyssa Monson and Monty Malani and her dear friends Clarinda Wood and Tiffanee Pierson. Their dedicated love and care was critical to Judy being allowed to live her final days at home which was her great wish.

The funeral will be held Saturday, May 20th, 2023, at 11am at the Fielding Stake Center (4375 West 15600 North - Garland, Utah 84312). Friends and family will have an opportunity to pay their respects at a viewing Friday May 19th from 6-8pm at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. - Tremonton, UT 84337) and a viewing at the church prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 am.
