Karen Memmott

November 28, 1964 — June 23, 2015

ELWOOD- Karen Sue Thompson Wilkerson Memmott, our beloved daughter, mother, niece, grandmother and friend escaped her handicaps to rejoin the love of her life, Earl Memmott on June 23, 2015.

Karen was the first child and only daughter of Robert and Gayla Thompson; she was born on November 28, 1964 in Brigham City, UT. She married Casey Wilkerson and they had two sons; Casey and Cody. Karen and Casey were later divorced. They had three grandchildren; Kayla Jo, Champ and Anna-Lyn Wilkerson.

On July 4, 2007, Karen married her knight in shining armor, Earl Memmott.

Karen worked at Thiokol, Autoliv, and Triump as a contract negotiator. She was a dynamo that exceeded all expectation because of her ability to speed read and comprehend and retain everything she read. In the course of her work she travelled to France, the Netherlands, Japan, & Germany often, as well as all over the U.S.

Karen was an avid golfer and participated in numerous tournaments during the summer. She was creative with tile work and home improvements including electrical wiring.

Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents; uncle, John Boss; aunts, Sherry Mosley & Dawnella Thompson; and her beloved husband, Earl Memmott.

Surviving are her parents; children; grandchildren; step-daughter, Brandi Shaffer; and 3 step-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Randy & Chuck Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.

Karen will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 12 Noon at the Elwood Church (4900 W. 9600 N.) Karen’s family will greet relatives and friends prior to the service from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. at the church.
