Karleen Poulsen

Deweyville- Karleen Thompson Poulsen, 63, passed away on May 15, 2015, at her home in Deweyville surrounded by her family. She was born on April 14, 1952 in Brigham City, Utah to LeRoy Junior & Mary Lou Thomas Thompson. She married the love of her life James Henry Poulsen Jr. on March 19, 1971. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on March 19, 1973.

Karleen grew up in Tremonton, Utah where she attended Elementary School and graduated from Bear River High School & LDS Seminary in 1970. After which she attended Weber State University.

She moved to Deweyville in 1975 where she made her home and was proud to be a stay at home Mom & Grandma.

Karleen loved her children and served on many PTA boards and as a Room Mother at Honeyville Elementary for 14 years. She bowled on leagues for 26 years, as well as many state & national tournaments. She also volunteered 20 summers to the cook shack at Deweyville Park. She loved Elvis, Disneyland, Camping at Beaver Creek, Cooking Sunday dinner and was the #1 fan at all family sporting events & activities.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in Primary Presidency, Young Women’s Presidencies, Sunday School Secretary, Primary Teacher, Sunday School Teacher, Relief Society Teacher, Cub Scouts, Activities Chairman, Young Women Camp Director, Road Show Director and Visiting Teacher.

Karleen is survived by her Husband Jim, one Son Cory James (Chelsie) Poulsen, Tremonton; Daughters Bunny Jo (Jason) Barnett, Spanish Fork, Utah; Krissy Lee (Scott) Wash, Harrisville, Utah; Shelby Kay (Skyler) Christiansen, Ogden, Utah; Grandchildren Dani Poulsen; Shawni, Hunter, Oaklie and Brighton Barnett; Presley & Reese Christiansen; Brianna Wash; Taylee Gardner; Great Grandson Bentley Collins; Mother Mary Lou Thompson, Tremonton; Mother-in-law Jan Gardner, Deweyville; Brother John Roy (Angie) Thompson, Garland; Sisters Mary Ann (Thayne) Daniels, Malad, Idaho; Sharon (Craig) Potter, Collinston, Utah; and Karen (Kelly) Richardson, Roy, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her Hero (her Dad), loving Grandparents, infant son in 1982, Jim Poulsen & Corvil Gardner (Fathers-in-law) and Lyle Poulsen (Brother-in-law).

Funeral services for Karleen will be held on Thursday May 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Deweyville LDS Chapel (10750 N Highway 38, Deweyville, UT). Viewings will be held on Wednesday evening May 20, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. Tremonton, UT) and prior to the funeral on Thursday at the church from 9-10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in the Deweyville Cemetery.
