GROUSE CREEK - Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Kenna Rose Kunzler Tanner passed away peacefully November 26, 2011 in Ogden, Utah, at the age of 83. Kenna was born July 7, 1928 in Rosette, Utah to Harold L. and Vinnie Rose Kunzler. She enjoyed her childhood helping her father with farm work, learning homemaking skills from her mother and playing with her brother Dee, sister Rhea and many cousins who were like sisters to her. She attended school at the Park Valley School until ninth grade, tenth grade at Bear River High School in Tremonton, and finished high school at Box Elder High School in Brigham City. She attended Utah State Agricultural College in Logan where she received her degrees in Home Economics and Education. After college, she married her eternal companion, Merlin B. Tanner, on October 25, 1950 in the Logan LDS Temple and moved to Grouse Creek to settle on the family cattle ranch where she lived and worked the rest of her life. She taught and worked at the Grouse Creek School for twenty years. She was the clerk and bookkeeper at the Grouse Creek Co-op store for fifteen years. She served the community as an Emergency Medical Technician and as weather recorder for the National Weather Service. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held numerous callings. She served in the Primary, MIA, Relief Society, Sunday School, Family History and other callings. She served for 25 years as the Homemaking Counselor in the Relief Society. She most recently enjoyed serving as the ward librarian and Relief Society instructor. She had a strong testimony of her Savior and often taught her family to love one another and stay close to the Lord. Her favorite things were being a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, canning fruit, genealogy, and reading. She loved to cook, and became famous for the thousands of “grandma rolls” which she lovingly prepared for every family dinner and many ward events. She was widely known for her kind personality and caring way. Kenna was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents and one granddaughter, Jaime Hunt. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Blaine and Julie Tanner, Grouse Creek; Laraine and Ron Hunt, Layton; Jay and Diane Tanner, Grouse Creek; Brent and Conny Tanner, South Weber; and Terri and Mike Schutz, Twin Falls, Idaho.
