Kenneth Lee Hull was born March 8, 1935 in Ogden, Utah. He passed away on June 6, 2019 in Hyde Park, Utah.
Kenneth graduated from Ogden High School, Weber State College and Utah State University.
He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Northern States with headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. He was always grateful to have been a missionary in Nauvoo, Illinois. He joined the military reserves and served for 6 ½ years in the Army.
He met his lifelong sweetheart, RaMona Neeley, in Ogden and they were married on September 10, 1958 in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They were blessed with 5 wonderful children.
He taught Seminary for the Church for 10 years in Idaho. He then moved to the public school system in Utah where he taught for an additional 32 years. He taught at Kearns Junior High, then at Ben Lomond High School where he also enjoyed time as a coach, and then moved to Millcreek Youth Center where he completed his 42 year teaching career.
He served as a Bishop in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as well as in many other stake and ward callings. One of his special loves was his work in Scouting. He was awarded the Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver for many years of heartfelt service. He also trained adults in the Scouting program by organizing Wood Badge training courses.
In 1989 his family was named Family of the Year by the Tremonton Region of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He and RaMona were also given the Andy Rytting Community Service Award for their years of community service in the Bear River Valley, including his 18 years as director of Tremonton City’s summer recreation and Little League baseball programs. He and RaMona also served as missionaries in the Brigham City Bishop’s Storehouse and as church called supervisors of Petersen Park in Elwood, Utah.
In anticipation of his inevitable passing, Kenneth wrote the following personal obituary.
“Please do not grieve long, for my sojourn in life has been memorable and wonderful. I enjoyed greatly parents who saw to the essentials of my journey being the middle of seven children to a noble father, Robert Rigby Hull, and a loving mother, Grace Evelyn Bailey Hull. I adore four sisters, Kate Evelyn, Maxine, Marian and Nila, each talented and loving; and two brothers, All-American basketball player William Robert and a younger, thoughtful brother, Melvin Thomas.
I adore my dear wife, RaMona Neeley. Words are not available to portray the joy, the pleasure, the substance of my gratitude of who you are to me. You are my “Eve”. You are my “Sarah” and my “Emma”. Please remember me.
Together we cherish one daughter, LeAnn, and four sons: Marvin Lee with his wife Laura Lee and their twins, MarleeAnn and Kenden; David Neeley and his wife, DeAnn and their four children, Jasmine and her husband, Brendan; Jordan and his wife, Brisa; Jenika and Jaden; Dr. Kallen Kenneth; and our youngest son, Kevin Robert. I revere and respect each of our four sons. I leave each one with a prayerful blessing that your lives will be lived in joy and valor. Each is a foreign missionary, each honored with the Priesthood and each a multiple palm Eagle Scout.
During our short sixty plus years of marriage, we enjoyed trips to Italy, New Zealand, France, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Fiji and The Dominican Republic. We affectionately say that we live in Gar-Dewey-Monton, our homemade acronym for Garland, Deweyville and Tremonton. Our special home borders the upper north east corner of these towns, near the banks of the beautiful Bear River.
During my 42 years of teaching I have labored in an appreciated vocation with choice friends and associates in St. Anthony, Idaho; and Ogden and Tremonton, Utah.
I became well acquainted with men and brothers in the Melchizedek Priesthood and in the Church’s Scouting arm. This was a noble cause.
It has been my blessing to have associated with some of the finest men and women in the earth, too numerous to note. I love and appreciate each member of the St. Anthony 4th Ward, the Tremonton 4th Ward and the Riverview Ward and I’ve appreciated being a part of these three ward families in which we lived.
I leave with full confidence that in Him, the rose still blooms beyond the wall.”
