Our beloved son, husband, brother, father, grandpa, uncle, and friend, was called home to his father in heaven early on the morning of October 6, 2023, of a massive heart attack. His passing has left a hole that cannot be filled. Throughout his life he was always an example to all those who had the pleasure to know him. He will continue to have a lasting impact that makes all of us all better people.
Kenny was born May 27, 1968, to Bob and Karen Smoot of Corrine, UT. Growing up on the farm Kenny learned at an early age the importance of hard work and perseverance. Those attributes could be seen throughout Kenny’s life. Kenny was a gifted athlete, who played baseball, football and wrestled for Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah. Wrestling is where he shined and with his grit and determination, he secured several state titles. Kenny was also an Eagle Scout.
After high school, Kenny served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Spokane, Washington Mission. He had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and focused his life on the Savior’s teachings. He served in many callings in the Church including: Stake High Council Member, Ward Bishopric, and several callings serving with the youth where he continued to leave his impact on all those he served.
On his return from his mission, Kenny joined his brothers where he started his career in the trucking industry. Together they created a strong business whose roots continue to this day.
Kenny married Sharon Leishman, the love of his life, May 4, 1991 in the Logan Utah Temple where they were sealed for time and all eternity. Together they built a life in Garland, Utah where they raised five children Samantha (Skyler), Sadie (Dallin), Hayden (Emily), Josilyn (Jayden), and Hunter. He also was a beloved grandfather to Lily, London, Kendall and Brixton.
Kenny loved to spend much of his time in the outdoors especially hunting with his boys. By far the greatest legacy left behind by Kenny was his unwavering love and commitment to being a great husband and father. Kenny’s love for his family showed in all they did. Whether it was dance, baseball, or caramel apples he was always all in when it came to supporting his family.
Kenny is preceded in death by: Robert Smoot (Father), Christine Leishman (Sister- in-law), Heather Edwards (Neice) and Christian Hall (Nephew).
Siblings include: Sally Hall (Lad), Peggy Curtis (Roger), Mike Smoot (Angie), Matt Smoot (Cindy), Kathy Klitgaard (Cameron), Rebecca Udy (Mark), Sarah Thinn (Kee).
We would like to extend our gratitude to all the healthcare professionals at Bear River Valley Hospital, the medical transportation team, and the medical staff at McKay-Dee Hospital ICU unit for their compassion and care.
