90- Garland- Passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her son Edwin and her caregiver Asena Itaaehau on July 7, 2012. She was born in Kerman, CA, the second child of Kazutoshi and Kameko Wakimoto Yagi on June 27, 1922. The family later moved to Lindsay, CA to farm. The outbreak of WWII lead to loss of the farm and the forced uprooting of 120,000 west coast residents, including the Yagi family. They ended up in a relocation camp in Poston, AZ just prior to Kimi’s high school graduation ceremony. After release from camp, the family traveled to Northern Utah where they heard farm work was available. Her brother had travelled ahead and found housing and farm work in Corinne, UT. So the Yagi family started over “From Scratch” again. Kimi also found work at Brigham Apparel, where she would eventually be introduced to and later wed Jim Yoshio Tazoi. A “local boy and hero”, highly decorated WWII Army Veteran. They were married January 15, 1948 and had three sons, who together worked the family farm, producing some of the “best bleached celery” among other crops. She and Jim were together at the time of his death March 2, 2007. Kimi had many talents including quilting, sewing canning, cooking, winning many awards/ribbons at the local county fair and the state fair. She was also instrumental on “riding herd” on her three sons. She was preceded in death by her parents, older brother Nobutoshi (Hayano “Hank”) Yagi, sister Takako “Taki” ( Akira “Aki”) Minamide, sons Lt. Col. Douglas Tazoi (1997) and Donald Y. Tazoi (2004) as well as her hunsband of 59 years Jim Yoshio. She is survived by her youngest sister Cassie Mae (Bob) Endo, Torrance, CA. Youngest son Edwin J. Tazoi, Taylorsville, UT. Grandchildren, “Kate” (Doug) Bartlett, Plymouth, MA, Emilee Tazoi, Brigham City, UT, JD (Nicole) Tazoi, Sandy, UT, Jordan E. Tazoi, Sandy, UT, Great Grandchildren, Hunter Iverson, Birgham City, UT, Finn Bartlett, Plymouth, MA. Numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews scattered across California, many friends scatters around northern Utah, and elsewhere. To all of her friends, thank you for making Mom feel welcome in her 68 year stay in Utah and helping to give back her dignity, and helping her through the hard times and personal losses. The family would especially like to thank Asena Itaaehau for her caring, dedicated and compassionate service to Mom for the last two years. Funeral services for Kimi will be held Saturday July 21, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Garland Tabernacle (140 West Factory Garland, UT).
