Laree Mortensen Chiodo, age 94, passed away peacefully June 6, 2024 at her home in St. George, Utah. She was born in Bear River City, Utah on July 19, 1929 to Benjamin Peter Mortensen and Verlyn Karen Anderson. Laree was raised in Bear River City and after graduating in 1947 from Box Elder High School in Brigham City went to work as a telephone operator at the Bear River Telephone Company in Tremonton, Utah. There she met Eugene Arthur Chiodo and they were married in Tremonton on December 25, 1952. They made their home in Tremonton until they moved to Southern Illinois in 1969. They lived there until they retired and moved back to St. George, Utah. She was a member of the Relief Society and like her mother she loved flowers and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Gene; her two sons: Michael (Pilar) of Double Horn, Texas and Matthew of St. George; 3 grandchildren, Abbigail Gray (Edward), Gina, and Michael; 3 great grandchildren, George Gray, Margaret Gray and Rosemary Gray; and her sister DawnNell (Glade) Anderson and brother Cardell (Joan). She is preceded in death by her parents, two infant siblings, and her two older brothers Vear and Martell.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Bear River City Cemetery at 11:00am in Bear River City, Utah.
