Lenora Jones

Tremonton-Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Lenora George Jones, will always be remembered in our hearts and minds as a special angel who touched many lives. Lenora, age 93 passed away peacefully Oct. 23, 2009 of natural causes in her home. Lenora was born on a blizzardy Saturday evening in the small town of Corrine, Utah on Feb. 5, 1916. She was the 3rd. of 7 children born to Joseph Ransom and Jennie Rozelle Wood Cutler. Lenora married Joseph Arthur George on Sept 20, 1933 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were blessed with 7 children. Joe was killed in farm accident on Oct. 6, 1984. On Nov. 4, 1989 she married Melvin S. Jones and moved from Tremonton, Utah to Wendell, Idaho to live. Melvin died Nov. 11, 2002 so Lenora moved back to Tremonton to be closer to her family. Lenora loved handiwork of all kinds and in her later years she even purchased a professional quilting machine. Her goal was to make a quilt for each one of her large family. Lenora is survived by her 7 children: Lavon (Wayne) Stenquist, Arlynn (Ralph, dec.)Checketts, Shelton (Pam) George, Douglas (Marilyn) George, DeAun (Richard) Johnson, Lloyd (Lori) George, La Ree (Ron) Bodily, and one daughter –in-law Peggie George dec. She is also survived by Melvin’s children: Denny(Shirley) Jones, Ed (Joye) Jones, Jerry (Jeanette) Jones, Don (Debbie) Jones, Dyan (Jeff) Sears, Jeneal, dec. (Frank) Stevens, Earl dec. (Jan) Jones and Delora (Ray) Versluys, and numerous grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister Ilene (Burton) Hill and one brother Robert W (Lorraine) Cutler. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Ransom (Bud) and three sisters, Jennie, Venna, and Joyce. Funeral services will be held Wednesday Oct. 28, 2009 at the Tremonton 3rd Ward LDS chapel, 9590 N 6800 W. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:00 am to 10:40 am. The service will be at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Bear River City Cemetery. Special thanks to Mark, Don, Tara, Linda and Danalyn from Primrose who gave such loving care and made it possible for Lenora to remain in her own home.
