Lila Larkin

Lila Diane Stephens Larkin, 78, passed away January 16, 2014, at her home in Tremonton. She was born January 9, 1936 in Downey, Idaho to Blanch Burton Stephens and Harry Lee Stephens.
She married Dennis Blaine Larkin at the old Brigham City courthouse in April of 1958. All the fruit trees had burst into bloom as though for their wedding. She loved being a farm wife and drove tractor and irrigated the field’s right along Blaine. She married him again in the Logan LDS Temple in October of 1986. He preceded her in death in May of 2010.
Before marrying Blaine she worked for Bell Telephone in Pocatello, Idaho as a switchboard operator. She worked various jobs in Box Elder County including Brigham Apparel, Box Elder Enterprises, Pacific Trails Sportswear and La-Z-Boy.
She was a member of the LDS Tremonton 8h ward. She played church baseball in the 1970’s in the old Tremonton 3rd Ward.
She was a member of a club no one wants to join, the “cancer club.” She successfully fought a rare ovarian cancer for seven years after being told she might only have two weeks to live.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane and Wendy; Her sister Marie (the late Harvey) Galloway; Her brother Harry(Sharon) Stephens; sisters-in-law Lorna Ihrig, Janice(Charles) Bragg, and Judy (Wayne) Andersen and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Ali Ben-Jacob and staff as well as Intermountain Hospice and staff and nurses Carol and Mavis.
Viewings will be held on Monday January 20, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Rudd Funeral Home (1234 S. Main Garland, UT) and on Tuesday January 21, 2014 from 10- 11 a.m. Interment will immediate follow the viewing on Tuesday at Valley View Cemetery (Bothwell, UT).
