Lillie May Baker Thomas, 87, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 14, 1928, in Mendon, Cache County, Utah, to William Melvin and Fern Walker Baker. She married Joseph Edward Thomas on Nov. 22, 1948, in Tremonton, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
Lillie was reared and educated in Cache Valley, attending elementary school in Mendon, graduating from Wellsville Jr. High School, and South Cache High School in Hyrum, Utah. She moved to Tremonton in May of 1946, after high school graduation. She worked as a telephone operator at Bear River Telephone Company and was later promoted to Chief Operator. She later went to work at Thiokol Chemical Corporation as a telephone operator and receptionist. She left work to have her fourth daughter and later went to school for Chrysler Credit Corporation and learned bookkeeping. She kept books for four different owners of the Chrysler Dodge Dealership in Tremonton. She then earned her real estate license and enjoyed selling real estate for Century 21 and Bess Realty; retiring at age 80.
Lillie and husband Joe served as Co-Presidents of North Park PTA, and also served on the North Box Elder PTA Council. She served as President of the VFW Borgstrom Brothers Post Auxiliary for two years, and President of the VFW Box Elder District for two years. Lillie was known as "Grandma Lillie" to many children whom she loved and mentored for several years at Small Wonders Preschool. In return, she was admired by each child. She loved serving where needed in any capacity.
Lillie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; a current member of the Tremonton 6th Ward. She enjoyed her many callings throughout the years in Primary, Mutual, and Relief Society. She served as Cultural Arts leader and was the Speech and Drama leader for 12 years; earning 12 superior rated Road Shows with the help of countless talented youth. Many of her Road Show scripts have been shared and performed by others. Many have been touched by her talent for writing scripts, poetry, and songs.
Lillie had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life. She was a perfectionist in all she did, as well as in her appearance. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
Lillie is survived by her four daughters, Jacalyn (Dale) Andersen, Fielding, UT, Debra (Wayne) Firth, Bothwell, UT, Cindy Jo (Micheal) Norr, Tremonton, UT, and Gina (Rodny) Wells, Taylorsville, UT.
She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; Jerod (Jamie) Andersen, Lisa (Jeff) Harrow, Becky (Jeff) McMurdie, Wesley (Jenny Jo) Firth, Jami Jo (James) Grimes, Jaci Lin (Jearame) Hawkes, Jenny (Clay) Cutler, Ginger (Landon) Rose, Mikela Norr Rundell, Marci (Zack) Craghead, Tricia (Josh) Buchanan, Kayla (Zack) Bingham, Payton Wells, and Valerie Joe Wells; and 37 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are; Louella (Ivan, deceased) Hall, Lamar (Vivian) Baker, Richard (Georgia) Baker, and Ila (Clyde) Jardine; and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; her husband, parents, siblings; Melvin Baker, Elva Goodsell, Vaudis Hammons, Mary Alta Reese, and Josephine Olson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 N. 300 East, Tremonton, with Bishop Denis Roberts officiating. Viewings will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at the Tremonton Stake Center. Interment will be in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
