Lily Hansen

October 11, 1925 — May 6, 2015

Lily Bernice Wahl Hansen, 89, of Elwood, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, May 6, 2015. She was born October 11, 1925 in Deer Lodge, Montana, the youngest child of E.B. and Mary Hitz Wahl. She graduated from Powell County High School in 1943. After high school graduation, Lily moved to Seattle, Washington where she found work as a secretary for Ingersoll Rand. It was while living and working in Seattle that she met her husband, Raymond Noble Hansen. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple on July 13, 1945. After the war, Raymond brought Lily to his family farm in Elwood, where they built their home and raised their family. While Raymond supported the family, Lily was also a secretary for Dr. A.J. Mohr in Garland.

Lily was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She loved to garden and make her yard and home beautiful. She loved to knit, crochet, embroider and make quilts. Many people have been blessed by her busy hands.  She loved hiking with her family and being in the mountains, and though she lived in Utah for almost 70 years, her heart was always in her beloved Montana.

Lily was a faithful member of the Tremonton 3rd Ward where she served in numerous callings. Two of her favorites were primary chorister and primary teacher. She served with her husband, Raymond, as temple workers in the Logan Temple for eight years.

She is survived by her children, Maralee (Lex) Anderson, Lorin (Mayela) Hansen, Craig Hansen, DeVere (Kris) Hansen, Lynae (David) Winkler, Thad (Lisa) Hansen, Daryl (Julianne) Hansen, Bert (Glenda) Hansen, and Joan (Aaron) Whitaker; 34 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren with 4 more on the way. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Fred Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four older sisters and brothers, and an infant great-granddaughter, Avalyn Pearle Hulse.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 14, at 12:00 Noon at the Tremonton 3rd Ward LDS Chapel (9590 N. 6800 W. –Tremonton) with Bishop Dennis Christensen officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:00-11:30 a.m.  Interment will be in the Elwood Cemetery.

The family expresses appreciation to Maple Springs Assisted Living and Integrity Home Health and Hospice for their wonderful care.
