PENROSE, UT - Linda Mae Hillis, 75, passed away on August 26, 2014 at Bear River Valley Hospital with her family by her side. She was born on February 22, 1939 in Vernal, UT to William and Wanda Goudie.
Linda married Merrill Don Hillis on Aug. 1, 1955 and together they had six children. She has lived in South Jordan, UT; Wendell, ID; and most recently in Penrose, UT.
She was a surgical nurse and worked at St. Benedict's Hospital for many years. She was an angel at mercy in her profession, in her family, and her many church callings. Linda was a DRAFT Horse enthusiast. She loved to sew, create spook alleys, do road shows, 4-wheeling, garden, and travel to Yuma, AZ and Elba, ID.
Linda had many callings in her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her motto was "A small thing done with great love becomes a great thing."
She is survived by her loving husband, Merrill Don Hillis; daughter, Donna Lynn Hillis Checketts; Sons, Eric Chad Hillis, Merril Blake Hillis, Andrew Troy Hillis, Shawn Mitchell Hillis; 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, William Bret Hillis.
There will be a funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sep. 2, 2014 at the Thatcher-Penrose LDS Chapel (11475 W. 10400 N. - Thatcher) with a viewing prior to the funeral from 11:00 a.m. till 12:30 p.m., also at the church. Burial will follow in the Penrose Cemetery.
