Bear River City: Lola Beth Petersen Christensen age 88 passed away peacefully December 13, 2011 at her home with her husband and children by her side. She was born in Bear River City on November 5, 1923 to Erastus and Alice Hansen Petersen. She was one of 11 children, eight sisters and two brothers. She attended grade school in Bear River City and graduated from Box Elder High School in 1941. During high school Beth worked at her Uncle Bernard's store in Bear River. After graduation she worked as a nanny in Salt Lake and during the war worked sealing boxes of machine parts to ship overseas. In October of 1942 she married Keith Newman and they had one daughter, Nadine, born prematurely who did not survive. They later divorced and she moved back to Brigham and worked at JC Penny Company. Beth married James Mack Christensen on August 5, 1949 in Brigham City. They built a home in Bear River where they lived for 62 years. They had four children; Toni (Horace) Millhone, Bear River; J. Craig (Kristy) Christensen, Bear River; Carol (Kenneth) Baugh, Honeyville; and Kathy Ann Christensen who was born with a congenital heart defect and died at the age of 18 months after heart surgery. Mack and Beth were sealed later as an eternal family in the Logan Temple. After her children were raised Beth went back to work at Powers Flowers and later in the dietary department at Brigham City Community Hospital. Beth was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many different positions and was called to do initiatory work in the Ogden Temple. Mom enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren's visits and attending special events and achievements in their lives. She had many dear friends whom she socialized with and was a member of a Pinochle club for over 30 years. Beth enjoyed crocheting, quilting, playing games with her family, traveling with her sisters and being the hostess on the Fun Bus to Wendover. She also enjoyed baseball, and was an avid Jazz fan. She was preceded in death by two daughters, her parents, six sisters and one brother. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, three children, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren with number ten on the way, two sisters (Audrey Hess and Ann Bourne), and one brother (Ralph Petersen). Funeral Services will be under the direction of Rudd's Funeral Home in Garland, Utah. Viewing will be at the Bear River City LDS Chapel located at 5870 N 4700 W. from 6-8 pm on Sunday, December 18" 2011 and Monday, December 19" 2011 from 9:30 to 10:40 prior to funeral services at 11 am
