Loretta Williams

February 19, 1933 — April 26, 2014

Loretta Mae (Hills) Williams, 81, returned to her heavenly home and into the long-waiting arms of her son, Randy, on April 26, 2014. She was born February 19, 1933 in Rupert, Idaho. The only child of Ed and Florence Hills, she was affectionately known as “Honey Girl.” She enjoyed her childhood years in Rupert where she graduated from Rupert High School. She furthered her education at the University of Utah, where she earned her degree in Secondary Education in Secretarial Science. While attending the University, she met her lifetime sweetheart Farrel Jay Williams. They were married September 4, 1955 in the First Christian Church of Rupert Idaho. Their journey began in Salt Lake City, but they eventually moved their family and established roots in Tremonton, Utah. They were blessed with the greatest gifts of their lives, their four sons. Loretta was a housewife and mom who dedicated her life to raising her three rambunctious boys. Her job skills grew to include: referee, short order cook, chauffeur, maid, and nurse to daily bumps and bruises. When her youngest boy entered school, she made the decision to utilize her degree and found employment with Box Elder County School District. She taught shorthand and keyboarding at Bear River High School. She also was the cheerleader advisor and started the first chapter of the National Honor Society, where she served for 21 years. As beloved teacher and mentor, she greatly enriched and blessed the lives of many students. The greatest part of her job was being able to teach right next door to her husband’s classroom. After close to 30 years, she entered retirement, where she found time to enjoy her many hobbies which included: knitting, reading, counted cross stitch, going to lunch with friends, collecting her teacups, gardening, and following her kids and grandkids to their many events. She could always be found cheering on her Bear River Bears. Her house was always filled with love and laughter, especially on Sunday afternoons as her large family gathered for Sunday dinner. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and her infant son, Randy Jay. She is survived by her husband Farrel Jay Williams, her children, Allen (Sheri) Williams, Jeffrey (Lori) Williams, Mark (Sandy) Williams, and her forever daughter-in-law, Tereasa Williams Stokes. She also leaves legacy for 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Bear River Valley Hospital and staff, Dr. Rod Merrill, and home-care nurse, Sue Allen, for all their loving care.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 1st, at 12:00 pm, at the Tremonton Stake Center, located at 660 North 300 East, Tremonton. A viewing will precede the services from 10:00-11:30 am. A viewing will also be held on Wednesday, April 30, at the Tremonton Stake Center, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Interment will be at the Tremonton Cemetery following the funeral.

Our mom and grandma instilled in all of us deep love and commitment to family. Our family will carry on her traditions and keep her memory alive in our hearts. We will see and feel her love as we spend time at the cabin, look at the Tetons, have Sunday dinner, eat red velvet cake, and celebrate the Christmas season. We are grateful to have gathered around her in her final days and demonstrate the love that she exemplified to us. We love you Honey Girl.
