Lorna Thompson

d. July 16, 2014

Lorna Steed Thompson passed into eternal life on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Lorna was the 10th child born to George Gerald Steed and Ida Stokes in Plymouth, Utah. She was delivered by her great-grandmother Janet Steed who was a midwife.

She was the beloved wife of Donald Thompson (deceased 4/8/2011), mother of Carol Tracy (Fred) of Roll, Kathy McNeely (Elvin) of Yuma, Dona Green (Carl) of Avondale, and Roger Thompson (deceased 11/11/1997). Grandmother to: Misty Harris (Vern) of Wellton, Timberly Warrington (Shawn) of Yuma, Shanna Wachter (Derek) of Vista, CA, Sean McNeely (Macy) and Corey Troy of Yuma. Kenny Keyes of Yuma, Kendal Wigington and Kenzie Keyes of Phoenix and Aden Green of Oklahoma. Dwayne Thompson of Arkansas. She was the great- grandmother of 22 children, and the great-great-grandmother of 3 children. Not having her wisdom and advice will affect the lives of us all.

She attended Plymouth school and Bear River High School. She was introduced to her husband Donald (Bones) by her brother Don Steed; both served in the U.S. Navy and were stationed in San Diego at the time. While her heart was always in Plymouth, she lived most of her adult life in Yuma, where she raised her children. She was employed by the Yuma County Treasurers Office as Deputy Treasurer until retirement. After retirement, she was co-owner of Images Salon in Yuma where she worked as a receptionist for fun with her daughters and grand-daughter.

Lorna had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very loving, caring, and giving person. She had many friends of all ages who enjoyed spending time with her. She will always be remembered for helping anyone in need. She was loved by all that knew her. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she held many callings. She loved teaching the children in Primary. They always surprised her with comments that made her laugh, and she cherished the memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters and was the last surviving sibling of twelve. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Rose Steed of San Diego, CA.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Plymouth Cemetery at 12:00pm. Please dress casual. Following services there will be a BBQ at Plymouth Park, celebrating Lorna’s life.
