Lucille Oyler Shaffer, 97, passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born April 15, 1914, in East Garland, the daughter of Joseph Oyler and Mabel Capener Oyler. She married Kenneth Shaffer on August 11, 1933, in Brigham City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on June 8, 1934. They were happily married for 70 years. He died May 10, 2004. They were blessed with seven children. Lucille was reared and educated in Garland graduating from Bear River High School. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She helped on the farm, loved camping, gardening especially raising beautiful flowers, and being with her family. She was always busy crocheting and quilting until her stroke in November 1992 which paralyzed her left side. She was a member of the Hampton Ford LDS Ward and served in various organizations. She is survived by her children, LuAnn (Andy) Anderson, Kent (LaDawn) Shaffer, Dan (Janeal) Shaffer, Jean Jones, Joyce (Larry) Chambers, Susan Jensen, Ila Mae (Reed) Woods; 32 grandchildren, 87 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; sisters Rhoda, Vera, Lois. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons-in-law; Dwane Jones, and Steven Jensen; granddaughter Jeanette Hurd; great-grandchild Quay Jensen; brothers Howard and Sherman. Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Monday June 6th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Fielding Stake Center, 4375 West 15600 North. Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the Fielding Stake Center. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the East Garland Cemetery. The family wishes to express appreciation to PrimRose Health Care and Hospice, for the hours of loving care, especially Tara and Christina for their service and acts of kindness.
