Lydia Ketchens

May 19, 1983 — July 17, 2023

Lydia Dobbins Ketchens of Salt Lake City, Utah age 40 died 17 July 2023 of cancer.

She was born May 19, 1983, in Layton, Utah. As a child, Lydia’s family moved to Montana where she lived an active and happy life on the farm. She spent many hours pulling weeds, exploring the coulee, swimming in the cow trough, and seeking out hidden kitties.

She was home-educated and enjoyed playing sports with the Montana Christian Athletic Association and lettered in basketball and volleyball. She competed throughout the state of Montana and in national and Canadian homeschool tournaments. These fun experiences fueled her competitive spirit which she carried throughout her life. She loved the memories and associations she made as a Great Falls Bulldog.

She studied at Ricks College and spent time as a nanny on the East coast and an office manager. She finally found her career as a dedicated employee at Prestige Financial where she worked for 14 years. She made many heartfelt connections in her personal and professional life during her time there.

Lydia loved children and loved being a mother more than anything else in the world. She also loved cheering for the Jazz and 49ers (through the good and bad). She enjoyed dancing and spending time with her friends of which she had many.

She was a member of the LDS church.

She is survived by daughters, Jade Zaire Ketchens and Kate Mitchell; her parents, Daniel and Sally (Eames) Dobbins; her siblings, Joshua (Misty) Dobbins, Micah (Kayla) Dobbins, Kelsey (Jim) Pitt, Eileen Dobbins, and Erin Dobbins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rodney and Isabelle Eames and Jeff and Juanita Dobbins.

The family would like to express Lydia’s gratitude and appreciation for the overwhelming kindness received during this difficult part of her life from her hospice nurse, Fyre, Prestige Financial, her work team, the Pitt family, and her many friends. She also wants to express her deep and special thanks to her sister Eileen with whom she lived with for the past few years.
