Lynn Arthur Darley, age 83, passed away on January 6, 2024 in Smithfield, Utah. He was born on January 4, 1941 in Rupert, Minidoka, Idaho to Lavon Eckersell Darley and Eva Berry.
Lynn married Mable Juanita Darley "Marcia" on April 9, 1964 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mable passed away on October 30, 2016.
Throughout Lynn's life, he lived in Provo, Murray, Taylorville, Tremonton, and Deweyville. He had most recently moved to Smithfield, Utah. He enjoyed the friendships and memories he was able to make there.
He attended Minidoka County High School and 1959 Links Business College in Boise, Idaho. He had a successful career with Idaho First National Bank and First Security Bank. After having served for 32 years in the latter bank, he retired on December 31, 1996.
Dad enjoyed fishing, watching sports, visiting the coast and taking his family to Golden Corral & Chuck-A-Rama. He loved traveling and showed unwavering support for his family during important milestones such as baptisms, ordinations, missions, school sports events, and graduations.
In September of 1960 at the MTC in Salt Lake City, he began his missionary service. Lynn served in the Mission East Central States Mission which covered West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Lynn held various positions such as Office of 70 member and served as the 2nd Counselor in Mission Presidency, and served in several stakes including Murray Stake, Ensign Stake, Tremonton Stake, State Clerk, Ward Clerk, and a three-year mission public relations Joseph Smith Memorial building. He also served as the Branch President at Our House Assisted Living.
Lynn is survived by his children: Kevin (Jennifer) Darley, Thane Darley, Kara (Travis) Holm, Glenn (Valerie) Darley, Kenny Darley, Debra (Ryan) Snow, Amber (Leo) Larios; his loving 26 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lavon Eckersell Darley and Eva Berry; his wife, Mable Juanita Banta; his son, Brent Darley; and his siblings, Mahlon Lavon, Dona Fae, Retta Mae, Dell Berry; daughter-in-law Leslie Darley. He was also preceded by his grandchildren Miles and Zakkri Holm.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 11 A.M. Viewings will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 5-7 P.M. and prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 A.M. All services will be conducted at the Deweyville LDS Church (10750 N 3000 W, Deweyville, Utah). Interment will take place in the Deweyville Cemetery. Due to the internet connection, a recording of the service will be uploaded shortly after the service.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the members of Deweyville Ward and Smithfield 17th Ward. They are especially grateful to the young men and young women who included Lynn in their temple visits and who sang to him bringing him Christmas joy.
