In the early hours of December 22, 2009, a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep with her children and loved ones around her. Lizzie passed gently from our arms to the loving arms of those angels who had gone on before. She was born August 31, 1909 in Garland, Utah to Thomas and Mamie Wise. She later met and married Legrand Willard Wood on September 14, 1931 in Farmington, Utah. Lizzie gave life to seven children. The oldest child, Marie, died at 22 months of age in her mother’s arms fighting measles. The other children are son Lyle Legrand (Judy) of Washington, Utah, son Lee J. (deceased ) wife Nola of Tremonton, Utah, son Lamont (Christine) of Tremonton, Utah, daughter Launee Halvorson (Donald deceased) of Waterville, Iowa, daughter Lois Hale (Kent), Clearfield, Utah and daughter Lucile Krebs (Larry) of Moroni, Utah. Her loves in life were family, quilting, (which she estimated over 300 hand-quilted, and at least that many tied quilts), crocheting, cooking huge meals, reading, genealogy, taking care of anyone in need of a helping hand or an ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on and arms to hold those who needed to shed a tear. Known as “Aunt Lizzie” to most of the town even though they were not related was one of her proudest compliments. She was always active in the LDS Church as a Primary and Sunday School teacher, visiting teacher and worked in genealogy extraction. Lizzie and Legrand were blessed with 31 grandchildren, 90 great grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Legrand, daughter Marie, son Lee J., son-in-law Donald Halvorson, three brothers, two sisters, and eight of her grand children and great grandchildren. We, as family wish to extend a very special thanks to her granddaughter Connie Fuller, and grandson Joel Wood and all their children for never missing a daily visit, bringing meals and donuts, and never leaving her side in times of need. Also, thanks to Teresa Wood and Love Healthcare Hospice Service. Although mother loved flowers, she preferred that in lieu of flowers, that you remember her by hugging a loved one, performing a random act of kindness, or making a donation to your favorite charity. Viewings will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2009 at the Garland Tabernacle 140 West Factory and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Internment at the Garland Cemetery.
