Margaret Ann (Nielson) Udy

October 7, 1941 — June 8, 2024

Margaret Ann Nielson Udy was born October 7, 1941, in Tremonton, Utah to Marvin LeRoy and Cora Bell Loveland Nielson. She passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Margaret Ann graduated from Bear River High School in 1959, she attended BYU for one year. On September 7, 1962, she married Farrell E. Udy in the Logan Temple. They made their home in Garland, Utah.  As soon as they could, they started on their family so she could stay home and be a mom. They lived in Garland for 7 years, then moved to Bothwell to live on the farm for about 6 years. They then built their new home in Garland where they still live.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many church positions throughout her life. She was in the stake young women, led music in primary, taught primary, led singing in sacrament, and played the organ and piano. She started teaching piano lessons when she was in High School and taught for several years. She worked in the Dr. office, as a Librarian at the Garland School, The PCA office, First Security/Wells Fargo Bank, and as the attendance lady as well as the registrar at Bear River High School.

Mom enjoyed many family vacations including trips to Alaska, St. Thomas, Hawaii, Canada, Dominican Republic, Mt. Rushmore, Mexico, Disneyland, and Disney World. She cherished spending time with her family at their property at Malad Summit. She loved spending time with her grandkids and supporting them in their activities.  She looked forward to rides in the car and going out to dinner. Later in life, she loved going on rides with dad in the General to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Some of mom’s favorite things were music and shopping. Mom was a classy lady, she wouldn’t leave the house without her hair done, the perfect outfit, earrings and lipstick on. She was a friend to everyone, and enjoyed visiting with people. We all benefited from her strict structure as we were growing up, but truly enjoyed the joyful and fun-loving grandma she became.

Margaret Ann is survived by her husband Farrell, daughters; Sharri Ann (Jeff) Oyler, Becky Lyn (Ryan) Jensen, and Marci Jo (Jared) Summers. 12 grandchildren; Brandon Oyler, Brooke Oyler, Jordan (Cody) Rawlinson, Joshua (Katie) Udy, Ryker (Adri) Jensen, Bryken (Mahala) Jensen, Kelby Jensen, Briggs Jensen, Keagan (Tate) Porter, Kyzer Summers, Mayci Summers, and Mayli Summers. As well as 8 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Jay L. (Judy) Nielson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sons; Shawn Edmund Udy and Bradley Jay Udy, two brothers; Marcel L. Nielson and Gary L. Nielson, two sisters; Barbara Jean Madsen and Renee Johnson.
