Maria Barrera

Tremonton - Maria Isabel Barrera, 79, passed away October 10, 2013 in Tremonton, UT. She was born on November 5, 1933 in Pawnee, TX to Julian and Consuelo Alvarado. She married Guadalupe G. Barrera in Harlingen, TX in July of 1956 he passed away in August of 2001.

Maria has lived in Texas, Colorado and most recently in Utah. She was the director of Migrant Head Start for many years and was also a bus driver. She received the bus driver of the year award. Maria was a member of the Guadalupanas and a deacon at Santa Ana Church.

She is survived by her children; Maria Cecilia (Victor) Mendoza, Maria Nave, Linda (Roy) Sullivant, John Barrera, G. Michael (Tracy) Barrera, Julian Barrera, Corina Barrera, Adan Barrera, Christopher Limas; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday Oct. 15 at the Santa Ana Church 760 W 600 N, Tremonton, at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing Monday evening at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E., Tremonton) from 6-7 p.m. and a rosary starting at 7.
