Heaven opened its doors to a bright angel on a beautiful, early summer evening. Alene was born in Tunk Valley, Washington on September 9, 1923 to Glen and Adeline Lee Presta Ewer and died at her home in Deweyvillle, on June 1, 2016. Her 92 years on this earth were full of laughter, friendships and family. She married Wayne Alma Fryer on May 22, 1942 in San Francisco, CA. They were later sealed together in the Logan Temple in September of 1984. While Wayne was in the Navy during World War II they had the opportunity of living in Seattle, WA; Bremerton, WA; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Long Beach, CA and Washington D.C. After the war, in 1946, they moved to Wayne’s hometown of Deweyville, Utah. Wayne passed away September 6, 2004. They were together 63 years.
Alene was active in all LDS organizations. She was most proud of serving in the primary for 30 years and being a visiting teacher for 45 years. She served on the Stake Primary Board, Stake Relief Society Board and Stake Sunday School Board. She was P.T.A. president of the Deweyville and Honeyville schools and president of the North Box Elder P.T.A. Council. She was a member of the Utah Chapter of the League of American Pen Women and was a published author in poetry, prose and music. Alene served on the Box Elder County Fair Board for 8 years as a Premium Book Directory secretary. She retired after 25 years service as medical secretary to the Box Elder County Health Department and Bear River District Health Department.
She enjoyed being a home maker, traveling, camping and raising flowers. She was a very good cook and enjoyed making lemon pies for family and friends. She always saw the need and helped many families. She was devoted to her family and loved to have them come home.
Alene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne, her brothers Ronald Ewer and Donald Ewer, sister-in-law Maydene Ewer. She is survived by her four children, Marilynn Lee Plummer, Leslie Wayne Fryer, Mark Evan Fryer (Joei), and Laurie Eve Boehme (Randy), ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with two more on the way; brother, Vern Ewer & Jan Ewer and sister-in-law, Shirley Ewer.
A special thank you goes to Dr. Doug Walker, Elaine and Elizabeth from Access Hospice, Terri Holmgren (for keeping her absolutely perfect for several years).
“Special thanks to all my family for the many things they did for me. And to all the many friends who called or came to visit.”
