Marie Bigler

Marie Erickson Bigler, 96, passed from this life on February 22, 2013 in San Diego, California. She was born on December 5, 1916 in Beaver Dam, Utah. She was the daughter of Joseph Alma and Mary La Vona (Johnson) Ericksen. In 1937 she married Clarence Vance Bigler in the Logan, Utah Temple. Due to her husband’s work, they lived in several locations before settling in San Diego in 1956. They were members of the San Diego North Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Marie and Clarence served as missionaries in the New York Rochester Mission. Prior to this, they served at the Mormon Battalion Visitor’s Center in San Diego. They were ordinance workers in the Los Angeles Temple, and later the San Diego Temple. Marie served for 31 years. She was also a member of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; two children, Ann and John Alan, and five of her 8 siblings; Durell, Kenneth, Helen, Melvin, and Virginia. She is survived by 3 children; Joy of San Diego, CA; Susan of Garland, TX, and David of Washington. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Bryce of Beaver Dam, UT; 2 sisters, Elaine Green of Salt Lake City, UT and LaVona Steffen of Tennessee, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and will be missed by all those who were blessed to know her. Funeral services were held in her San Diego ward. Funeral services will also be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Beaver Dam, UT (16025 N Beaver Dam Rd.) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013 with a viewing previous to the funeral from 10-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Deweyville Cemetery, Deweyville, UT, immediately following the services.
