SALT LAKE – Marilyn Heiner Mecham, 90, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side on December 21, 2016 in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born in Morgan, UT to Amy Alice West and Horace Heiner.
Marilyn attended and graduated from Morgan High School, then went to Weber College and became a Registered Nurse. She married Arlin LaGrand Mecham in Salt Lake City, UT on Nov. 3, 1948 and together, they raised 8 children. Family was always important to Marilyn.
She worked hard and enjoyed being a nurse, she worked in labor & delivery and orthopedics, eventually retiring in 1991. Mom enjoyed sewing, cooking, crocheting knitting, gardening, family history, and scripture reading. She was given a 4H award for her sewing ability.
Marilyn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in many callings and was the Relief Society President under 5 different bishops.
7 children survive her, JaNae (Robert) Lillian, Eric (Joan) Mecham, LaRee Mecham, Lance (Shawn) Mecham, Jill NaRece Mecham, Venna (Chris) Chambers, Alicelyn (Layne) Jaques; Son-in-law, Gary Vincent; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlin L. Mecham and a daughter, Suzanne Vincent.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing prior from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. There will also be a viewing on Tuesday, Dec. 27, from 6-8 p.m. all services will be at the Rose Park North Stake, North Chapel (1155 N. 1200 W. – Salt Lake City). Burial will be in the Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
