Marion Wayne Bailey came into this world on April 26, 1941 and moved on from this life February 25, 2023. Even though it has only been two days since your passing from me, your “best Dear” it seems like forever ago…already.
Wayne’s deepest love was for Heavenly Father and his Savior Jesus Christ and his family, Heidi Lynn Walstad, Tami Steiner (Eric), April Bonnett, Jonathan (Ashley), Benjamin (Nicole) and Brigham (Brittinee). Jonathan had recently asked him, what he loved about the first house we lived in. Wayne said, “Coming home to my wife and our children.”
With a newspaper in hand or book about a favorite gospel topic, he was ever ready to listen and to teach and to love and to serve us. He loved his role as husband and father. Brigham said he loved his dad’s quiet demeanor that was never sharp or unkind.
He provided for us all through his strong work ethic. He set a good example of hard work for all of us. He worked in banking for 17 years as an auditor and branch audit manager. At one low point, when First Interstate Bank was absorbed by Wells Fargo he became unemployed. Through much fasting and prayer a miracle occurred for him. He was offered a job at Brigham Young University in Financial Services in the treasury department.
I say a miracle because when we were first dating he told me his dream job would be to either work at BYU or the US Treasury Department. Treasury Department at BYU was truly a miracle. He spent the rest of his career days at the “Y”.
He served faithfully in every calling he was ever asked. He had an absolute commitment to the power of the ministering and was the champion of its power in the leadership callings he held. He was always a faithful home teacher and minister. His favorite calling was teaching Gospel Doctrine. His deep knowledge, combined with teaching by the spirit blessed all who enjoyed his classes.
We are deeply grateful for the kindness shown by the wonderful staff at Community Nursing Services and for the tenderness shown at the time of Wayne’s passing and the two weeks prior as they cared for him and joked with him and made us all feel that this step is a normal and natural part of mortality. Thank you all for arranging the Honor Guard Service.
It is with saddened hearts, we say goodbye Dear, for a time, but we know you are just in the other room and we will see you soon.
