Mary LeFont Garfield Christensen passed away peacefully at Bear River Valley Hospital surrounded by her family on February 21, 2013. She was born on June 5, 1926 in Bear River City, UT. She married her high school sweetheart, Gaylen Christensen, in the Logan LDS Temple on May 26, 1944. Mary had an amazing love for her family and was happiest when she had all of her family around her. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Some of her favorite hobbies included gardening, cooking, canning, making candy, and shopping with her daughters. Mary devoted many hours of service and support to the Va-Dels Studio of Dance, and was known as the students’ “dancing grandma”. She was an active member of the LDS Church, and served in many positions. Her favorite was in the Primary organization, where she enjoyed helping the CTR 7s prepare for their baptisms and attending them. Mary touched many lives throughout her life, and those that were fortunate enough to know her felt very blessed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylen Christensen; parents, Leslie and Deloris Garfield; a son, Kelly Shawn Christensen; two great-grandsons, Skyler G. Summers and Braison Hullinger; a great-granddaughter, Kolbi Mae Christensen; and one brother, Daryle Leslie Garfield. She is survived by eight children, Craig (Robyn) Christensen, GayLynn (David) Eliason, Shari (Mark) Scott, Debbie (Kerry) Zundel, Kevin (Alma) Christensen, Becky Wood, Krisanne (Craig) Veibell, and Marci Smith, 47 grandchildren, and 106 great-grandchildren. The family would like to express deep gratitude to the loving service rendered by the caregivers from Bear River Valley Hospital, Intermountain Home Care and Hospice, Bear River Valley Care Center and the many family, neighbors, and ward friends for compassionate service rendered. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at theTremonton Stake Center, 660 N. 300 E. Friends may call Wednesday evening at the Stake Center from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery.
