Our loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother, Mary Etta Lambert Laub, age 88, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2012. Mary was born July 22nd 1923, in Guntersville Alabama. She was the seventh of nine children, born to William E. and Fannie Ella Edwards Lambert. She also had 2 half-brothers. Mary’s father died at 37 years of age, of pneumonia, when she was 4 years old. Her mother couldn’t take care of all of the children, so they were farmed out to distant relatives and friends. She ended up in California, where she attended Escondido High School. Mary worked a short time for the police department, and as a telephone operator. It was at this time that she met Don Laub, they dated for several months, and on Dec. 10th 1945, they were married in Yuma Arizona, and shared 66 great years together. They moved to Burley Idaho, where they had their first 2 sons, Jeff, and Mark. They later moved to Logan Utah, Where Don attended U.S.U. They then moved to Salt Lake City UT, where Don attended the University of Utah. Their 3rd son Dave was born there; they then moved to bountiful where they had their 4th son Bill. They spent about 15 years there until moving to Casper, WY, then Denver, CO and, finally, Retiring in Garland UT, next to the 1st green, on the Belmont Springs golf course. Mary and Don golfed almost every day when the weather was good. Mary knew all of the regular golfers there, and had a nick name for almost all of them. She would sit on their deck, facing the green and greet the golfers as they passed, they would all say hi, and if no one was behind them, they would come over to visit for a minute or two before heading down the fairway. A time full of great memories for the family was in the late 1950’s and early 60’s, when the family spent the summers in Stanley Idaho, Camped next to the Salmon River. This is the place where Mary said she slept the best, listening to the river gently flowing by. We hope she has now found that same peaceful sleep. Mary loved all of her sons very much, and would defend them fiercely, if anyone dared harm them, in any way. Our Mom was a very gentle woman; a devoted and loving mother and wife. She was always a positive and cheerful soul, with her blue eyes twinkling every time she smiled. Everyone that knew her loved her. We love you mom, and we will miss you very much. Special thanks to the care givers at Primrose Hospice, and Lydia Martin, for all of the loving care they gave to our mother in her last days; it was a great comfort to us all. Mary is survived by her 4 sons, Jeffery Carl (Carole) Laub of Casper WY, Mark Clifford (Jennie) Laub of West Point UT, David Rex Laub of Malad ID, William Donald (Jane) Laub, of Willard UT. 6 Grandchildren, and 9 Great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Laub. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 2, 2012 at 12:00 Noon in the Fielding Cemetery. A Viewing will be at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home in Tremonton (111 N. 100 E.) from 10:30 – 11:30 am prior to services.
