Maxine Goring, 59, passed away peacefully at the home of her sister, Kathy Bessinger, January 4, 2013, in Honeyville, Utah. An inspiration to all who knew her, she will be greatly missed. Maxine was born 17 August 1953 in Tremonton, Utah, the daughter of William and Margie Goring. She grew up in East Tremonton and was educated in local schools. She attended Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, and graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Interior Design. After serving an LDS mission to Arizona, Maxine returned to Utah State University for a second bachelor’s degree in business and accounting. She worked for the State of Arizona in the Revenue Department for the next 14 years. In 1998, Maxine took an early medical retirement and moved to the family home in Deweyville, Utah. She was a great companion to her mother and sister, Mary. Maxine was a member of the Tremonton Women’s Civic League, where she served in various positions, including president. She was currently serving on the Deweyville Planning Commission, as president of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs for the State of Utah, was a member of the Tremonton Museum Board, and president of the Happy Harvesters Quilters Guild. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various responsibilities through the years. She was a woman of great energy and many interests, and especially enjoyed quilting, family history, reading and learning. Although she was not blessed with children, Maxine blessed many children’s lives through her interest and love for them. She was a friend to her nieces and nephews and their children, as well as the children who came and went at their house. Everyone loved Aunt Maxine. She is survived by her mother, Margie; sisters Kathy (Bob) Bessinger, and Mary; and brother, William H. (Sherie) Goring. She was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Goring, and her father, William F. Goring. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the Dewevyille Church. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, and on Wednesday from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Deweyville Church. Special thanks to the many caregivers, family members and medical personnel who helped in Maxine’s care through the years.
