Melanie C. Holmgren died peacefully May 28, 2016, in her backyard in Bear River City with her gardening gloves on and laundry drying on the clothes line.
She was born May 29, 1941 in Tremonton, Utah to Harry L. (Papa) and LaVerd (Mauna) Canfield. She graduated from Bear River High School where she participated in Rodeo Club and was a member of the High-Steppers.
Melanie married Nyman L. Holmgren on September 24, 1960. She and Nyman raised 4 children in Bear River City. She faithfully served in many callings in the Bear River City 2nd Ward. You would often find her playing the piano for others.
Melanie filled her days in selfless service. She used her talents of cooking, gardening, and music to bless others. She spent countless hours playing the piano for the choirs of Box Elder High School. She loved being part of the students lives.
Above all Melanie was a fulltime Grandma and devoted and caring Mom in every way.
Melanie is survived by her four children: Dodie (Trent) Kamman, Newcastle, WA; Jared (Sue) Holmgren, Bear River City, UT; Heidi Holmgren, Bear River City, UT; and Tiffanie (Trevor) Lindley, Mountain Green, UT. She is also survived by 10 grandkids, lots of cats and one lucky dog (Jackson).
She is preceded in death by her Mom, Dad and Husband.
Funeral services for Melanie will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Noon. Viewings will be held on Friday evening, June 3, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the funeral from 10-11:30 a.m. All services will be held at the Bear River City LDS Chapel (5870 N. 4700 W.).
