Merle Laura Hansen Scott passed away peacefully on a beautiful Sunday morning at home surrounded by her loving family on July 9, 2023. She was born on August 14, 1932 in Trenton, Utah. She grew up in Newton, Utah where she lived until her marriage.
She married her sweetheart, Wesley Irving Scott, in the Logan LDS Temple on September 22, 1950.
Merle had an amazing love for her family and was the happiest when she had all of her family around her. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Merle loved to sew and made most of her girls’ clothes. She loved to cook, bake, and can. She made the best carrot cake and Tapioca pudding. She made many beautiful counted cross stitch samplers over the years. Merle was not a fancy gal. She loved working on the family farm and could drive the truck with a load of hay and a cab full of grandchildren. She would work all day and throw together a big supper at the end of the day.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. Her favorite was junior Sunday School Secretary.
Merle touched many lives throughout her life and always had a hug for them.
Merle and Wesley served four missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which included: Washington DC, South Mission; Adam-Ondi-Ahman; San Fernando Philippines; and Missouri, St Louis.
Merle was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick Neils Hansen and Nettie Hodges; twin brothers, Keith and Kenneth; one sister, Bonnie; daughter, Charlene (Neal) Udy; and grandson, Jeremy Wade Bowen.
She is survived by her husband, Wesley Scott; one brother, Junius Hansen; six children, Mark (Shari) Scott, Pauline (Mark) Smith, LaRene Scott, Jolene (Steve) Busby, Valene (Floyd) Rose and Rick (Shirley) Scott; 27 grandchildren, 75 great grandchildren and counting and five great great grandchildren with more to come.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to the loving service rendered by Bear River Valley Hospital, McKay Dee Hospital, Logan Regional Hospital, Intermountain Home Care and Hospice and many family and ward members for compassionate service rendered.
