Merlyn Jackson, 100, of Tremonton passed away February 15, 2013. He was born in Paradise, UT on Jan. 13, 1913 to Thomas Franklin and Hannah Welch Jackson. He married Ethel May Rose in 1940 and they had 4 children, IlaRee, Betty Lou, Kaylene and Larry. Ethel died in 1975. Merlyn spent a major part of his life on the family farm in Blue Creek, UT first as a young family worker, then the owner for many years. He also leased other property in Blue Creek and Pocatello Valley. Merlyn developed a love of flying airplanes. He owned his own plane for many years using it for pleasure trips and hunting expeditions. During his adult life he maintained a home residence for him and his family in Tremonton. Upon retirement, Merlyn traveled extensively in the Western United States, with the use of R.V.’s, just to fish, enjoy people, and spend time where it was warm in the winter or cool in the summer. It has been a good life full of hard work, good fun, and association with good people. He married Iris Maurine Fonnesbeck on Sep. 3. 1976 Merlyn is survived by his second wife and 3 daughters, IlaRee (Gerald) Reese, Betty Lou (LaVar) Short, and Kaylene (Royal) Anderson. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 3 sisters, his first wife, 1 son, Larry and 1 daughter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E., Tremonton) there will be viewings on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. as well as Tuesday Prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m., both at the funeral home.
