Tremonton, UT – Neil Thurman Young passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 1, 2022.
Neil Thurman Young was born on Dec 1, 1938 in Lehi, Utah to Seymour LaVon and Iona Beth Gilchrist Young. Neil grew up in Lehi, assisted with the family farm and attended school there. He graduated from Lehi High School, then attended The College of Southern Utah and Utah State University where he completed a Bachelors degree in Economics. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand. He met Sonja Stapley while in college and they were married in the New Zealand Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on December 6, 1961.
They raised five children in Lehi, Utah, where they resided for over 40 years. He was a dedicated husband and father providing for and helping to raise their 5 children. He held many callings as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Neil had many talents including gardening, home improvements, and civic volunteer leadership. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and firewood cutting/hauling. He spent most of his career at Utah State Job Service assisting people with finding and improving their employment experience.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sonja, his parents, and his brother William (Judy) Young. He is survived by his five children: Kyle (Debra) of Bothell WA, Camille Lopez (Miguel) of Tremonton UT, Raulan (Amy) of Burley ID, Lorin (Elsha) of Rigby ID, Tristan (Melissa) of Layton UT; his brothers Mark (Janie) Young, Sidney (Annette) Young, and sister Ione (Bill) Young Bezzant, 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements by Rudd Funeral home Garland, UT. Services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral service at the church from 9-10:30 A.M. All services will be held at the Tremonton South Stake Center (1150 S Tremont St, Tremonton, UT 84337). Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
