Garland- Orvella Sackett Evans (82) passed away on March 8, 2013 in her home in Garland surrounded by family. Orvella was born on August 19, 1930 to Orval E. & Vella Waddoups Sackett in Brigham City, UT. Orvella spent her life living in Brigham City, Pocatello, Boise, & Garland. She married Ray Evans on August 25, 1950 in Brigham City and they were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on July 22, 1958. During her life she attended and graduated from Box Elder High School. She also attended Brigham Young University. She worked with her husband and was co-owner of Evans Drug Center in Garland for over 35 years. Orvella was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was always a lady, and was always serving others. Her grandchildren adored her and each felt special. She was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many callings including Relief Society President, teacher, Chorister and Stake Missionary. She spent many years working with the cub and boy scouts. Some of the hobbies that Orvella enjoyed were reading, singing, gardening, taking care of her flowers, being in the outdoors and hiking. She also loved singing. In High School she performed widely with a trio and had a weekly radio show on the Brigahm City Station. She spent many years singing solos, trios and in small groups. She was also a member of the Garland Civic Club. Orvella is preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Brother DeLaun Sackett, Son Bruce C. Evans and Great Granddaughter Kylee Emma McCammon. She is survived by her brother JDell Sackett, children Kenneth R. (Velma) Evans, Midway, UT; Ralph D. (Shelley) Evans, Farmington, UT; Robert L. (Melanie) Evans, Garland, UT; Connie R. (Bruce) Evans Daughter-in-law, Garland, UT; 25 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Orvella will be held on Saturday March 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Garland Tabernacle (140 W. Factory St.). There will be a viewing held on Friday March 15, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. in the Tabernacle and previous to the funeral from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Robert & Melanie Evans family for a decade of care.
