Fielding- TOGETHER FOREVER! Because they didn’t want to be apart, Carol Coombs Forsberg, 79, passed away on February 26, 2015 in Ogden, Utah, and hours later her sweetheart joined her in heaven. Paul E. Forsberg, 81, passed away on February 27, 2015 in Tremonton, Utah. Carol was born on November 24, 1935 in Fielding, Utah to Alta Alexandria Hales & Irvin Spackman Coombs. Paul was born on October 17, 1933 in Riverside, Utah to Irene Udy & George Henning Forsberg. They married in Fielding on February 26, 1953. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple.
Carol grew up in Fielding, and spent most of her life there; she also lived in Plymouth and Garland. She attended Bear River High School.
Carol worked at local stores in the area and owned and co-operated Mel’s Greenhouse with family for 20 years. Her favorite occupation was being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Carol loved to shop, attend Charlie Pride concerts and go to Wendover with family & friends. She enjoyed attending all of her children & grandchildren’s activities and especially hosting parties. She loved to decorate her home for every holiday. Her home was a favorite to see at Christmas time with all the Christmas lights.
Carol was a faithful member of the LDS church and held many callings. Her favorite was Primary music chorister. She enjoyed many years in a pinochle club with her friends. She also cherished the time she spent with family and friends at their cabin in Bear Lake.
Paul was raised in Riverside, Utah. He graduated from Bear River High School and joined the Navy after high school.
Paul drove semi for many years and received many safe-driving awards. He worked at various companies but retired after 29 years from Thiokol.
Paul was also a member of the LDS church. He served faithfully for many years as a home teacher, but truly enjoyed when he taught the sunbeam class. He loved to hunt, fish, spend time with his lifelong friends and also spend time at their cabin in Bear Lake with family and friends. His favorite pastime was taking long drives, especially in Montana.
They are survived by their son, Mel Forsberg; daughters, Jill (Ron) Bates, Paula (Ron) White; grandchildren, Dani (Tanis), Tiffany (Jared), Jade (Trisha), Jud (Gina), Braydan (Alexis), Jordan, Sister Whitney White (serving in the New Caledonia mission) and Cassidy; 13 great grandchildren. Carol is survived by her brother Theo Coombs and Paul is survived by his sisters Mary Marble and Janeal Sparks.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; sister Doris, brothers Keith, Verl and Vernon. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; sister Doris Smith and baby brother George. They were also preceded in death by their son-in-law Bryan Marble.
Their funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fielding Stake Center (4375 W 15600 N, Fielding, UT). Viewings will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the funeral from 9-10:30 a.m. Both viewings will be held at the Fielding Stake Center.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Bear River Valley & McKay-Dee Hospitals for their love and tender care. Also to Dr. Jeff Lish for his many years of loving care and the Fielding Fire Department for their quick response.
