Joseph Paul Hamblin, 84, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, in Tremonton, Utah. Born on May 28, 1940, in Driggs, Idaho, he was the son of Cyril and Anne Hamblin.
On November 18, 1960, Paul married Frances Hamblin in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They had 11 children and raised 10. Although they later divorced, the bond they created through their family remained a significant part of his life. He also married Thelma Nelson, and they too eventually parted ways.
Paul grew up in Victor, Idaho, as a child. He later moved to Rexburg, Idaho where he pursued his education at Ricks College and then went to Idaho State University in Pocatello. He then moved back to Victor, Idaho and lived in various places afterwards. He enjoyed a fulfilling career as an educator, teaching math and electronics at the College of Eastern Idaho. In addition to his role in education, he worked as a TV repairman and engineer at Thiokol, and he was also a devoted foster parent.
Paul had a zest for life and loved spending time outdoors, enjoying activities such as camping and picking huckleberries. He was passionate about music, often found singing and playing guitar. His friendly nature was highlighted by his love for teasing friends and family with jokes.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by his sons, Gary (Kristin), David (Stephanie), Mark (Jeongsun), Michael, Jacob (Katie), and James (Melinda); daughters, Rosalyn Welker (Bobby Turner) and Heidi Hamblin (Mike Quintena); along with 32 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Paul was preceded in death by his sons, Reed (Joni) and Glen; daughter, Sara Lee; sisters, Lorna West, Maurine Marcum, Reta Williams, Ruby Hamblin, Karen Little, and Lakee Cramer; brother, Earl Hamblin; and his beloved parents.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for spring in Victor, Idaho with details to be announced later. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to PrimRose Home Care & Hospice & Staff for their compassionate care during this time.
Paul spirit will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
