Raeola (Miller) Wise Harper 11/1/1932 – 3/13/2012 Loving mother, Raeola Harper, passed away Tues., March 13 in Vacaville, CA at the home of her daughter Linda. She was born in Tremonton, Utah to parents Rudy Miller and Ethel Stokes. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She past from this life leaving 2 daughters and their spouses, Linda and Jack Hornfischer of Vacaville, CA and Rhonda and Richard Monk of Ogden, Utah. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Richard (Leah) Hornfischer of Fairfield, CA and Erika (Seth) Jennings of Vacaville, CA. and Robyn Monk and Ryan Michael Monk, both of Logan Utah. She leaves 6 great-grandchildren all of Vacaville and Fairfield. She is also survived by Brother Dennis (Lila) Miller of Tremonton, Utah and Sister Trudy Garfield of Garden City, Utah. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lt Col. Lynn J. Wise in 1972 and second husband, Lt Col. James Carhart Harper in 1994. Raeola and Lynn were married in Elko, NV, February 1950. Lynn joined the US Army and they had an exciting life moving their family frequently to his various postings: the family moved to Washington, Virginia, Hawaii, Georgia, Tucson, Kansas, and Frankfurt and Stuttgart Germany, where Lynn passed away. The family thoroughly enjoyed all their postings, especially Hawaii. Raeola loved swimming in the ocean, and with rare exceptions, Saturday s were spent at the beach. At his last posting, Lynn was Commander of the former Panzer Kaserne in Stuttgart, and Raeola became the President of the Officers Wives Club. Upon Lynn’s unexpected death, Raeola and daughter Rhonda moved to Ogden, Utah, where they both attended Weber State College. At the age of 40, Raeola graduated in the top three percent of the nation with her R.N.. She married James Harper in Reno, NV. January 1978. They lived in Las Vegas where Jim taught at UNLV and Raeola worked as a Cardiac Care Nurse. They loved to golf and did so most mornings once they retired. Raeola even scored a hole-in-one while playing. They travel often, visiting many places including Europe and North Africa. Jim passed away while they were cruising in the Cayman Islands in October 1994. Raeola relocated to Fairfield, CA. to enjoy her grand- and great-grandchildren. She was active in both Fairfield and Vacaville LDS Wards. She summered with her daughter Rhonda’s family at their cabin at Bear Lake, Utah, making Raeola’s summers fun and full of family. Raeola spent her final years living with daughter Linda and son-in-law, Joachim. Raeola was the center of a large family, and she will be greatly missed. Services will be held Saturday, March 24 at the Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North, 100 East, Tremonton, Utah; viewing at 11:30am, service at 1pm. She will be laid to rest in Garland City Cemetery next to her first husband Lynn J. Wise.
