Tremonton- Ray Winfred Collom, 91, passed away at his home on May 25, 2014. Ray was born in Rosie, Arkansas to Laura (Bertie) Moser & John Harvey Collom. He was born on June 4, 1922.
He grew up in Arkansas and then moved to Tremonton to work in the C.C. camp. This is where he met his sweetheart Margaret Irene Price. They were married on June 21, 1941 in Brigham City. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on May 30, 1973. They were married for 73 years.
Ray was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a High Priest in the Tremonton 2nd ward. He was a home teacher and also coached softball and basketball teams. He was a private in the United States Army where he was awarded the Sharp Shooter Medal.
During his life he worked as a self-employed truck driver, a mechanic for the Box Elder County Road Dept. and a handyman for everyone.
He loved to hunt, fish and go camping with his family. He loved to watch his kids and grandkids play every kind of sport. Whether it was rain or shine he was always there watching and cheering them on.
He is survived by his wife, Irene, two sons John (Geneva), Dale (Judy), 10 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 7 great- great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and sisters and one grandson Michael Dale Collom.
Funeral services for Ray will be held on Friday May 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton 2nd/5th Ward LDS Chapel (300 S Tremont St.) There will be a viewing held on Thursday May 29, 2014 at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E.) from 6-8 p.m. There will also be a viewing held prior to the funeral at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
