Biography

Ray V. Udy, 87, passed away on June 19, 2014, after a year long illness. He was the 9th child born to Edmund Udy and Mary Buxton on August 8, 1926 in Riverside, Utah. Ray attended Riverside school, Garland Elementary and Bear River High School.
In 1946, Ray married his sweetheart, Louise Steed, in Plymouth, Utah. They made their home in Riverside and filled it with five children - four daughters and finally a son.
He had a great work ethic and instilled the importance of hard work in others, especially his children. Ray began farming at a young age and continued farming throughout his life. He ran a dairy farm, worked winters at the U&I Sugar Factory and always had plenty of horses and Shetlands on the farm.
He was a member of the Bear River and Golden Spike Chariot Club. One of his proudest accomplishments was being honored with the "Best Groomed Team" trophy at State. He helped establish the annual Plymouth Rodeo, the first High School Rodeos in Tremonton and was chairman of the Box Elder County Fair Horse Pullings and the horse show for many years.
He is survived by his children Donna Ward, Reva (Bob) Jensen, Sharyle Shaffer, Ida (Ted) Anderson and Alan (Dixie) Udy; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and one sister-in-law Lynette Huggins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, son-in-law Denny Ward and 10 siblings.
Funeral services for Ray will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Belmont 2nd Ward LDS Chapel (16925 N 5200 W Riverside, UT), There will be a private extended family & close friends viewing from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. There will also be a public visitation from 11:30- 12:45 p.m. prior to the funeral. Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery.
