Renee Nielson Johnson, 82 of Tremonton, Utah passed away peacefully on the morning of March 22, 2016.
She was born December 27, 1933 in Garland, Utah to Marvin LeRoy and Cora Bell Loveland Nielson. She was the 4th of six children.
She was raised and attended school in Garland. She loved to play softball and was an impressive catcher for her team. She loved to cook, read and spend time at Bear Lake with her family. In her early years, she worked at the local telephone company. Later in life she worked at a children’s clothing store, a sandwich shop and a local pharmacy.
She married her sweetheart Lowell Maurice Johnson September 20, 1954 in Las Vegas, Nevada. On March 31, 1971 they were sealed as a family in the Logan LDS Temple. She is the mother of three children: Rick “L” Johnson (Sammamish, Washington), Janette Johnson Herron (Tremonton, Utah), Steven “L” Johnson (Hyrum, Utah).
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mother served throughout her life in the Relief Society, Young Women and Primary presidencies. She also served as a Stake Missionary. In the community she served as PTA president of the Bear River Junior High School and as President of the Pink Ladies at Bear River Valley Hospital where she volunteered her time for over 9 years.
She taught her children to love the Lord and to serve Him. Her beautiful and clean home was always welcoming to family and friends. She loved beautiful music and found joy in serving others. She loved being with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, 3 children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers and one sister; Gary Nielson of Wyoming, Margaret Ann Udy of Garland, Utah and Jay Nielson of Providence, Utah. She is preceded in death by her parents Marvin LeRoy Nielson, Cora Bell Loveland Nielson, her brother, Marcel Nielson, her sister Barbara Jean Madsen, grandson Nathan Edward Johnson, great granddaughter Morgan Shea Harris and great grandson Devin William Johnson.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 – 10:30 am on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 North 300 East, Tremonton, Utah. The funeral will follow at 11:00 am. Interment at the Riverview Cemetery, Tremonton, Utah.
We send our heartfelt thanks to friends and family and to the wonderful care-givers who lovingly cared for our mother at the Legacy House Assisted Living facility and the Intermountain Home Care Hospice in Logan, Utah.
