Our loving husband, father, brother and friend, Rex Barnes Stoddart, age 56, passed away August 18, 2011, enjoying nature in the beautiful mountains of the Sunridge area east of Ogden, Utah. Rex was born in Idaho Falls,ID. on July 3, 1955, to Alton Barnes Stoddart and Grace Ransom Stoddart. He met his sweetheart Linda at a dance where he knew the moment he saw her that he would ask her to marry him. It was love at first sight. He married Linda Daisy Hebdon on June 23, 1984. They were later sealed together with their four boys in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple on November 27, 1992. Rex grew up in Lincoln, Idaho, the Idaho Falls area, married and within one week moved to Brigham City, Utah to start his dream job, he then moved his family to their home in Thatcher, Utah. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Bonneville Junior High, Bonneville Senior High, and went on to attend Eastern Idaho Vocational Technical School and Idaho State University. He worked as a boiler operator at the Lincoln Sugar Factory across the street from the family home as did his father, grandfather and Brother Max. He was a custodian for the local schools, where he maintained the boilers. He spent a 26 year career as a dedicated employee of Thiokol, ATK as a boilerman before entering early retirement due to a company lay-off. He loved his co-workers and was often heard saying “If it isn't fun then we aren't gonna do it.” so he made any hard task full of fun. He was known for his laughter and light-hearted banter with those he worked with and with his family, & friends. He was an avid movie fan, loved the outdoors, loved cooking, baking or barbequing. He was known for his wonderful breakfasts served with his secret family pancake recipe. He enjoyed sports, basketball, baseball, gardening, camping, fishing, animals, nature, and being with his family. Rex was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in various callings Sunday School Presidency,Primary, Home Teacher, Cub Scouts, & Webelos leader. He loved coaching basketball and baseball and while in Idaho Falls coached his underdog ward team of boys to be a championship baseball team. Rex was preceded in death by his parents, a half brother Alton Stoddart, a half sister Merna Jensen. Rex is survived by his wife, Linda Stoddart, and his sons and their wives, Andrew Hebdon, Alex (Susan) Stoddart of Garland, Trevor (Karleigh) Stoddart of Layton, & Robby Stoddart. Also by his sister, LaRue (Lindon) Stoddart Corbett of Provo UT., two brothers, Max (Cheryl) Stoddart of Idaho Falls, and Michael Stoddart of Whitmore Lake, MI, and nephews, and nieces. A viewing will be held at Rudd Funeral Home 1234 S Main, Garland, Utah from 6 to 8 p.m., on Mon, Aug 22, 2011, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tues, Aug 23 at the church. The funeral will be held Tues. at 11 a.m., on Aug. 23, 2011 at the LDS chapel in Thatcher 11475 W. 10400 N. Utah. The Interment will be held in the Penrose Cemetery.
